Microsoft has recently claimed that the demand for its Windows 8 computers has been huge and they have been finding it difficult to keep the supplies in tandem with the demand. However, Best Buy does not seem to be happy with the present demand and has offered a two weeks $100 discount on all windows 8 based touchscreen PCs.The promotion will end on March 7th.
Apparently, according to the Wall Street Journal, the discount bill is being borne by Best Buy itself which places in the category of Microsoft, Intel and other PC makers.
A touchscreen generally adds a cost of between $50 to $200 to a typical Windows 8 computer. These touchscreens are generally added to computers already in the premium category, therefore, the discount offered by Best Buy will be on relatively more expensive PCs running Windows 8. The discount will not be applicable on Microsoft Surface or other Windows tablets.
Best Buy has been recently going through a kind of restructuring aimed at closing certain stores and cutting jobs. However, it recently became shoppers friendly when it announced a permanent offer to match the retailers’ prices of 19 top online stores.
