Don’t Be Evil Bookmarklet Makes Google Social Results Better

Google has recently started including Google + social results into its regular search results . However , this has attracted widespread criticism from other Social sites who are saying that Google is playing foul here by giving undue advantage to Google + .

A group of FAcebook , MySpace and Twitter engineers have released a bookmarklet which improves the social results in the Google search by including the most relevant social result for a person rather than focusing on potentially less relevant Google + page .

Google’s social results can be optionally turned off but if you want those , then this new bookmarklet will actually make the social results meaningful and useful rather than promotion for Google + . Here is how to install the Don’t be Evil bookmarklet :

  • Open Focus on the User site .
  • Click ‘ Try a More Relevant Google ‘
  • Drag the bookmarklet named ‘Don’t Be Evil’ to browser bookmarks

Now when you perform a search on Google and the results include social results , hit the boormarklet to include the most relevant social result . Currently the process is not automated and you will have to click the bookmarklet to refine the social results.
